A dandelion seed head glowing in warm golden backlight in a meadow in Hungary, with a tiny fly sitting on top.

A Tiny Visitor

I photographed this dandelion in Hungary, surrounded by the warm golden light that I love so much.

What makes the picture special to me, though, is the tiny fly sitting right on top of the seed head. It is such a small detail and could easily go unnoticed, but once you see it, it becomes an important part of the photograph.

I like these little surprises in nature. You start by photographing one thing, and then you look a little closer and realise you weren't the only one who stopped there.

A field of purple thistles glowing in warm golden light, with a tiny bird almost hidden among the flowers near the centre of the image.

Hidden in Plain Sight

At first, this photograph is simply a field of thistles in beautiful golden light. There are flowers everywhere, some catching the sunlight, others already disappearing into the background.

But if you look closely, there is a tiny visitor hidden among them.

A delicate flowering plant illuminated by sunlight, growing among dark industrial corrugated metal sheets and surrounding grasses.

Finding the Light

This little plant was growing between cold, hard sheets of corrugated metal—not exactly the place where I would expect to find something delicate.

What caught my attention was the light. While most of its surroundings remained in shadow, the sunlight found its way through and fell directly onto the tiny flowers.

I loved the contrast of that moment. All those hard lines and dark surfaces around it, and right in the middle, something small and fragile simply growing towards the light.

Between the Grass

I was down low among the grass when the sun began to shine through everything around me.

From this perspective, the plants suddenly felt much bigger. Stems and leaves crossed in every direction, some disappearing into shadow while others caught the warm morning light.

I like how messy this photograph is. Nothing is perfectly arranged, because nature rarely is. It feels a little like being right there again, somewhere between all those blades of grass, watching the day begin.
